Welcome to PolicyMatters Journal

This year, PolicyMatters Journal will proudly publish our tenth volume!

As the student-run journal of the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, we are dedicated to providing a forum for policy-related articles that span a wide range of topics.

With the political discourse in the United States becoming increasingly polarized and emotionally charged, the role of the public policy community has grown ever more vital. First, in presenting unbiased recommendations and reflections based on fact to decision-makers, policy analysts inform the debate and guide the conversation. Secondly, policy analysis can serve as a basis to advocate on behalf of marginalized groups and those whose voices go unheard or whose interests are underrepresented in the halls of power.

Producing a journal of this caliber requires a coordinated team effort. Goldman School students select and edit articles, edit layout, and serve on the Editorial Board. Our Advisory Board is made up of faculty from the Goldman School of Public Policy. We accept submissions from within the University of California community, and we welcome submissions from writers outside of our community as well.
